My Grandad boxed for West Ham boys in the 1940's then in the RAF. Got one of his trophies from when he competed in the Greater London boxing championship.

J Riddle.
Yeah Terry Spinks is there along with his manager, The great boxer Sammy McCarthy who very sadly passed away just three days ago, aged 88.

Up until Monday he was the oldest living British Boxing champion. Fortunately I managed to interviewed Sammy before he died and there is a great picture of him in the book with him and Terry together

The West ham Boxing club was situated next door to the Black Lion. It was part of the original pub building and was sub - let to the boxing club. The Pub landlord wanted more rent apparently and the boxing club moved out about 6/7 years ago and now situated near Plaistow underground station

Yes there is an e book version available.

Jimmy Flint aka The Wapping Asssasin is covered in the book with many from that era.

Hope some of you can make the signing at Waterstones Romford on 22nd Feb.

Is Billy Walker featured in the book? I know he keeps a low profile nowadays but I believe he lives in Essex somewhere. He and his brother George had a garage in Plaistow before he started boxing.

Remember an old film (doc) about Boxing at West Ham Boys and some of the pro fights around East London... called `Fighters'... all about Kaylor's comeback... featured Bradley Stone (RIP), Tibbs, Phil Soundey and a absolute nut job called Jimmy Flint... great viewing if you can get it anywhere...

CS, yes it's bad that these places aren't set up with money for the next decade, considering the hours they put in with these youngsters
